Русский

I'm learning Russian. Most people think it's extremely difficult, when in reality it is fairly simple. The trick is to just accept that this is the way it is and not argue with it. Some of the characters are the same in English and in Russian. Often enough these make the same sounds. But sometimes they're totally alien. Some examples are "a" "e" "p" "o" "y" "c" and "k". However, the "e" makes a "ye" sound, the English "p" is actually "r" in Russian, and the "c" is "s." Russian looks intimidating at first, but once you learn the alphabet, it's smooth sailing. For instance, the word for "hello,"  "Здравствуйте," looks impossible to say. It's pronounced "Zdrav-st-vuit-ye." But only for formal greetings. When greeting someone you know or who has the same status as you, you say, "Здравствуй." It's the exact same as before, you just drop the -ye. I particularly love to write in Russian. The Cyrillic alphabet is so fun.
